CoProd Conceptual Model, Working Paper 1.9.2010/JK Juhanin kanta tämän dokumentin kieleksi oli Suomi !!

This page is maintained by the Coprod project researchers. For more information, please visit the web pages of Coprod project.

This document is used as the working version of the conceptual modelling in CoProd project. The conceptual model puts together the different viewpoints that have been studied in the different work packages. This document will be used as the source of the final report from the project.

Collaborative Production Control for Networked Business Communities - An Analysis on Foundry Business

Coprod is a project that addresses collaborative production control in networked business settings. Businesses in networked and tightly interlinked surroundings need to co-operate and collaborate in such a detailed level that novel principles for managing the inter-company production control are needed.

Discuss and compare, when possible, e.g. following topics:

Domain A: Concepts

Responsibility: Janne

First, a brief introduction on Domain A: Definition of academic and industrial relevance. What is the academic domain of interest in Domain A? What is the industrial interest, problem, and challenge in Domain A that needs to be solved?

Introduction to Overall Theme in Domain A

Production control system in make-to-order iron foundry. This part describes the emphasis on specific subset of concepts and phenomena under focus in Domain A.

Background Concepts: Related Research

State-of-the-art review: What has been published about the concepts in previous studies by other researchers? What are the key conceptual models that have been presented in literature on the theme? What are the key questions that have been presented? What are the questions that key researchers have pointed out that require further elaboration? How does our research relate to these questions i.e. how do we contribute to the selected research domain?

For background literature: Refer to the list of readings in the References page.

Case Study in Domain A

Description of the case environment. What is the industrial problem that addresses the theme of the project (linking the academic theme and the industrial relevance)? How does the industrial problem align with the theme of the project? Describe the representatives/stakeholders of the network. What kind of benefits do the industrial representatives expect from the solving of the problem? What will be the outcomes of the research and development work? What are the changes to the current processes and activities?

Analysis and Conclusions in Domain A

This part concludes the novel approaches and concepts that are derived from Domain A. The concepts are presented so that they can be integrated to the overall conceptual model in the intergrative part of the document (at the end).

This section will be created and improved with joint workshopping and cross-analysis of the individual case studies. The conceptual model also employs issues from the underlying theories and related research.
